The On-Drive’s Track of the Week

This week I’ve decided to choose a fairly more recent track compared to last week’s selection of Monaco. I’m going back to 2007, when Australia won their third consecutive World Cup in the West Indies and my beloved Derby County won promotion to the Premier League – best not mention how they got on the following season!

I’ve gone for The Killers with Read My Mind, which is one of my favourites from the band. Lead singer Brandon Flowers has got a brilliant singing voice. It is very unique and a joy to listen to. The track peaked at number 15 in the Official UK Singles Chart. It’s a great song and I love the setting of the video – really does show the best of New York.

Hope you all enjoy this one.

The On-Drive’s Track of the Week!

REGULAR readers of The On-Drive will remember that during every week I would choose a ‘Track of the Week’ to give this cricket blog a more of an entertainment and snazzy feel to it…..I’m glad to say today sees the return of the blog feature!

For its return, I wanted to choose a popular track which would probably bring back some memories (hopefully good ones) for you readers. And I think I have done that! The choice of tracks also gives you a flavour of what I’m all about and brings a sense of personality to it.

This week I have gone for Monaco with What Do You Want From Me, which released in 1997 and peaked at Number 11 in the Official UK Singles chart. It should have been placed much higher in my opinion. It is regarded as the most successful song by the band which was led by New Order bassist Peter Hook.

It’s a great tune – hope you enjoy it right here on The On-Drive .

The On-Drive’s Track of the Week: May 31 – Jun 4

It’s Friday so that means only one thing – it’s Track of the Week time, here on The On-Drive.

This week’s selection is a new one and is from one of my favourite current pop stars.

What a year it has been for young singer Pixie Lott? Her debut hit Mama Do smashed the top of the charts and so did her second released single Boys and Girls.

In the end of 2009, she came back with the impressive Cry Me Out, which reached a peak position of just outside the top ten. In March of this year she also released Gravity, which soon was played all over the country’s radio stations.

And here today, we can show you her new video for her new single – Turn It Up. Doesn’t she look lovely?

Her album, also titled Turn It Up, is out now and I certainly recommend it to you guys. Really is a nice album to listen to.

Pixie is a great talent and it is no surprise she is planning a movie career, as well as a recording artist. Hope you enjoy the track.

The On-Drive’s Track of the Week: May 24 – 28

It’s Friday so that means it’s Track of the Week time here on The On-Drive!!!

This week I have selected a soundtrack from one of the recent Spiderman movies, which I’m sure you readers will like as well.

Hero, sang by Nickleback’s lead singer Chad Kroeger, was a hit in 2002 and was popular due to being the soundtrack to the popular Spiderman films starring Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire.

In the UK it reached a high of Number 4 in the charts but did however top the Canadian charts. It also was listed as a top entry in the US Billboard – Alternative Songs chart. The film is one of my favourites and the song fits perfectly with it.

It is a great track. Hope you enjoy it.

The On-Drive’s Track of the Week: May 3 – 7

It’s Friday so that can only mean one thing here on The On-Drive…….Yes it’s Track of the Week time!!!

This week’s selection I believe is an absolute cracker and hope will prove to be a very popular choice to all you readers. I have gone for arguably one of the best singles from the 1990’s.

After leaving boyband Take That in the mid-1990’s, a lot of fans were wondering what Robbie Williams would do next and whether he would go solo. He indeed did go solo and failed to set the world alight with his first few singles.

But his fourth single changed everything and he became a global star. It’s amazing to research that the song only entered at No.4 in the charts and failed to make it to the top but Angels became a huge hit.

So here is Robbie Williams with Angels. Hope you enjoy it and have a sing-along!

The On-Drive’s Track of the Week: Apr 26 – 30

Friday has arrived and that means only one thing here at The On-Drive……..it is Track of the Week time!!!!!

This week’s choice goes right back to the 1980’s. Precisely we are going back to 1985 – my year of birth in fact – with Simple Minds and their track Don’t You Forget About Me

The record I believe is one of the most defining tracks of that decade and is one of Simple Minds most successful and popular songs. It reached Number 7 in the UK Singles Charts and Number 1 in the USA. I love the start of the record when singer Jim Kerr sings “hey hey hey” in line with the background beat. I always have to turn the volume up on my iPod and when it comes on the music channels on Sky!

Great song. Hope you enjoy it as well. Here is Simple Minds with Don’t You Forget About Me.
